Weston MA High School….A Presentation about Kids, Sports and Concussions

Weston MA High School has another interesting presentation coming up.

The verdict is in!  Repeated hits to our head can have long lasting and serious effects on our brain function.  That’s pretty scarey.  But how scarey?  And what can we do?  The first thing we can do is educate ourselves.  In usual fashion, the Weston MA public schools provide the forum.

On  Thursday, February 28th at 7pm in the Weston MA High School Media Center. Dr. William Meehan will speak to concussive brain injury, its symptoms, potential long term effects and what parents and athletes can do to facilitate recovery.  Following the presentation Dr. Meehan and Weston athletic administrators will be available for specific questions.

sports picDr. Meehan is the Director of the Sports Concussion Clinic in the Division of Sports Medicine at Children’s Hospital, Boston and an instructor of pediatrics and orthopedics at Harvard Medical School.

I hope you can attend this important event.
